Part 1 rules to observe

Evaluation:
Fluency and Coherence - speak continuously in an understandable/organized way Lexical Resource - vocabulary - use less common words/ idioms
Grammatical Range and Accuracy - grammar control/ complex sentence structure + simple structure
Pronunciation - speak clearly

Standard Topics
1. Your Work or Your Studies
2. Your Hometown
3. Your Home (Your Accommodation)

The Standard Introduction Questions
   1.
“Good morning (good afternoon). My name’s X. Can you tell me your full
name, please?”
(= Please tell me your name.)

My name is Suin Kim.

2.
“What can I call you?” (= What shall I call you? = What should I call you? = What would you like me to call you?)

My English name is Sue. So, just call me Sue.

3.
“Can I see your identification, please?” (= Could I see your identification, please? = May I see your identification, please?)

Part 1_ tips

1. Answers MUST be 2-3 sentences long, and candidates have to stop with confidence.

2. Students must answer the questions using full sentences.

3. Students should attempt to paraphrase keywords in the examiner's questions.

4. Students MUST give a reason for your answer.

5. Students should not forget to say "Yes" or "No" when necessary.

Part 2 rules
Part 2 is sometimes called the ‘long turn’. You will be given a cue card and you will have 1 minute to prepare your answer. You will then be asked to speak for up to 2 minutes.

1. Start with a general statement/Paraphrase the question (Introduction) 2. Follow the order of the questions (Answer the questions one by one)
3. Summary Sentence
4. Be mindful of the time
5. Speak continuously and confidently/ Avoid pauses

Part 3 Tips

A. Basically, Generally, Firstly, Primarily, Overall, Normally

3. Additional Sentence/ Information

4. Give an example/ Another reason/ Talk about your personal experience
a. For instance/ For example
b. Another reason is that, In addition, Moreover, Also

5. Summary
a. As a result, Therefore, In this way, That’s why
